Trip overseas, especially a long haul one, is never complete without a trip to the DFS segment. Here the Krug set from 161 to 166 edition at SGD$3300 (#Tip 101: Wine Journey has it cheaper!)
This for my interest going as it one of the servers was about to empty a bottle of the Veuve Cliquot Cuvee Saint-Petersburg into the sink. I stopped her at once and asked wtf? (cos I have yet to drink it), she said it's nearing midnight and hence a change of shift imminent. I glanced at my watch and it was only 11pm. Their shifts do end at 11am and start again at 3am. I happily grabbed the bottle and poured myself glasses of it. The Veuve Cliquot Cuvee Saint-Petersbourg Champagne is pretty decent for SGD$67 at DFS. Overall pretty robust and ready to drink (I've forgotten to ask what time they opened the bottle).
And it's time to try more whiskey with BenRiach next. Rather good.
And the bartender made me a Rusty Nail, the liquor is a little too sweet.
Alcohol seems to make my watch spin faster, and it was a whirl and passing this plane at Louis Vutton enroute to gate A2 (very near yes to the shops).
Being on Premium Economy has its perks, boarding earlier, priority luggage tags and the rather empty cabins mostly. I had all 4 front seats to myself and Pancakes!
Book the Chef has it's usual fares and of the new cuisines, these pique my interest:
Spiced Buckwheat Pumpkin Pancakes with Orange
Wholesome buckwheat and pumpkin pancakes with vanilla bean coconut yogurt, toasted pumpkins seeds and maple strawberry and orange. Specially created by COMO Shambhala Digestive Support | Immune Boosting | Micronutrient Rich
SIA and Como Shambhala combined to dish up some delectable cuisines. Pancakes is seen with, erm Pancakes during the breakfast
While dinner is as follows:
Coconut Milk Chia Pudding with Strawberries
Vanilla-scented white chia seeds soaked in creamy coconut milk with fresh strawberries steeped in hibiscus flower tea. Specially created by COMO Shambhala Vitamin Rich | Digestive Support | High Fibre
Both meals look yucky but were really delicious. Everything was in balance, not heavy at all and yearns more to be eaten! Well done COMO!
Then it was a serious pain in the a** to get out of the immigration. Charles de Gualle Terminal 1 must be one of the most hated terminals in the world. In serious need of a revamp, the queues are long, immigration gates few, and signs much-a-lacking.
Finally out and the belt for luggage collection was NOT on the Telly screen.Look above and I had to lug the boxes to T3 via sky train, take a local train Chatelet Les Halles and change one top to Gare de Lyon, and waited 45mins to board a TGV which took around 1.5 hrs to DIJON to meet the boys.
Shown here some timelapse done on the brand new GoPro Hero 8!
Finally it was Dijon, I could choose between 2nd glass a 48 euros and 1st class seat at 52 euros.. 1st class never felt so satisfying! Seat was ultra wide, recline was good, and it was really really Silent! TGV rocks!
5 degrees and gloomy skies greeting my arrival but nevertheless I was upbeat to be able to join the group!
This was the hotel, pretty meh and no drop off point and hence difficult if you are alone or with just another person.
When in Dijon, eat/buy Mustard!
Yes!
It's beginning to feel like xmas!
No idea what is this as there's no testers though the shop was pretty full of people.
Someone's pet Pigeon!
Was back to hotel for a break and break = cheese/bites and WINE. This was my start of a marathon!
After a nap, it was to the first meal and Sichuan it was. Very good stuff!
the next morning in Dijon.
