A year started with a trip to HK / Shanghai, march to London, July to SH, August to BKK, no year end trip.

F1: Kimi won first race since xx ago, at the USA circuit, final time to see him at F1 SG in Ferrari colours

Ham won 5th WDC.

Craft beer scene much more competitive now

World cup in , watched some matches in SH!

Trump shook Kim at Capella

Ate the best duck ever at London fat duck (4 seasons)

Warriors beat the shit out of LBJ/Cavs

Grooved with Bruno and Jay

Jin jie won over Star awards

Inuka went to heaven with Hawkins, maybe met up with Spade, Dolores (Sob) and Bourdain

Fed manatees

Live more carefreely, dialed down on 'lofty ambitions'

Onward to 'smell the roses' more.

2018 Formula 1 - Singapore GP!

It is the 11th edition of the Singapore GP. With Malaysia GP ended in 2017, the SG's version is really more and more precious. The first night was all about Jay. I've been a fan for a few years, and not really liking the SportsHub's sound,the Padang does present to be a pretty decent outdoor concert area.

阳光宅男 is one of my favourites, I find it ultra apt to be an opening or ending song and

Jay chose it as an ender and I was Euphoric!

On race day, it was bidding farewell to Kimi, our favourite driver for a long time, to be in this last and probably final season in a red shirt.

At the only possible overtaking corner in the SG circuit (turn 7!)

2018 Bangkok - Dine and Dine

A ultra last minute trip to the Land of Smiles. Started off with a Scoot flights, (damn they didn't pay for Aerobridge at Changi!), it was a 4 day trip for Prayers with Dave. Expectedly, it was a 3 days of gluttony!

My first stop for lunch was to Tom Som Der, really top notch Tom Som (Papaya salad, as fine as it can be!)

Everything was great, spice a little on the high side for a 'first meal' in BKK!

Braving the 'hot me die' CCK markets, very glad that the live animals portion were phased out. Bargains galore for much of other items. Quality vary widely as expected!

Top dishes were

Roasted duck, nutmeg, curry paste & sawtooth coriander served on rice crackers. 

(Inspired from a recipe by Snidwongse Cookbook, 1968)

Pomelo salad with char-grilled scarlet prawns, Asian citron, chilli jam and gapi khoei plankton paste.

Nothing to complain (other than the wine prices :P) 

It was a gym on the next morning! ROUND ONE, FIGHT!

Food was generally on the salty side for our palettes. 

Part 2 was to The Iron Fairies, very intriguing  harry porter-ish type of place with secret doors and isolated rooms. Thanks to W for the Whiskey and songs!

Onward to part 3 with little memories of what happened as everyone was ...

Detox time on the next day, and everyone was juicing!

Part 2 lunch, very lousy pork noodles. Rung Reung Pork Noodle. One  of the toughest meats ever.

And a visit /shopping to Farmer's Fizz in Bkk!

Dinner was ..well yet another fine dining, at Le Du. Very well done thai food done in 'fine dining manner'. Only the 'chicken rice' didn't really suit a Singaporean palette. 

Charging to more street food on the next day. Ekkamai's huge bath of a 100 year old looking port of beef stew is #OMG delicious. DC mentioned 'Jon finally nodding head'. Yes it was seriously good, every dish was great: the beef tender and smooth, broth flavourful but not heavy.

Roast is so big that they have their ow publications, make their own fries from scratch!

There were many more Thai dishes which we didn't try, so the final meal was to be an all-out at EatThai Bangkok, a very good high end foot court at a mall. Prices were 20% higher than say by the streets, quality average to good (nothing ultra outstanding), I'd probably not return but decent for first timers.

And onward after lunch, the Taxi ride to the airport took longer than the flight! Luckily our friend was bandaged up and onward we were breezing thru the immigration!
