6th March: Roxette live in Singapore
Roxette is back in Singapore since their first concert here in 1995. Made up of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle, they became one of the most famous pop groups coming out of Sweden. With famous hits It must have been love, The Look, Joyride, Listen to your heart, How do you do making up some of the biggest hits in the pop charts of 1980s and 1990s. Roxette finally annouced their world tour last year and Singapore is one of their stops! Playing at the Indoor stadium on the 6th March, it was a near full-house at the venue!
The duo get the crowd working hard and fast with Dressed for success, Sleeping in my car and The Big L. One of my favourites is The Big L!
Moving on, it was some lesser known songs:
4. Wish I Could Fly
5. Stars
6. She’s Got Nothing On (But The Radio)
7. Perfect Day
8. Things Will Never Be The Same
The moment finally came for one of their most famous songs, It must have been love. A soundtrack for one of the most popular movies in 1990, Pretty Woman, the song sky-rocketed up charts all over the world in the summer of 1990. Marie was soulful in the introduction, with the crowd singing in chorus.
A list of Roxette hits follow, leading up to another one of my favourites, How do you do!. Which got the stadium rocking to Per's C chord. Simple chord harmony, catch lyrics, Roxette Anthem!
10. 7twenty7
11. Fading Like A Flower
12. Crash!Boom!Bang!
13. How Do You Do!
14. Dangerous
The band left briefly after the How do you do -Dangerous medley, and came back to the rapturous response.
After introducing the band, it was a string of hits again, with Joyride, Spending my time, and the historical classic 'na-na-na' song, The Look, leading to spending my time before a final encore with Listen to your heart.
